Naming facilities bad idea
A new issue has been introduced in North Georgia with the effort to add the name of long term coach Vince Dooley to the University of Georgia football stadium, now known as "Sanford Stadium" for an early president of the school. The new name would be "Sanford-Dooley" stadium.

A similar space hogging name has been pinned on the Atlanta Airport. It is now "Hartsville-Jackson International Airport." You cannot put that on one line of any form I have ever seen.

I think the whole idea of naming buildings, bridges and stadiums for individuals out to be abandoned. Just call it the Georgia Stadium and build a memorial site where statues of those to be honored can be placed. Same for the Atlanta Airport. Again you can honor any number of people with statues, busts or portraits.

It will make it much easier for those who work or utilize the facilities, save ink and honor even more people than the present system.

But then again, that is the sensible thing to do, and when has government ever done that?

Jacques Chirac
Jacques Chirac may have learned a bit about American ways. A year ago, he caught a lot of flac about kissing the hand of Laura Bush in the presence of her husband.

Well, yesterday, he chose not to kiss the hand of Condilessa Rice. Someone said the French only kiss the hands of married women. I suppose they kiss the single girls somewhere else?

While I am on that subject, France has a problem with their wine. They have too much of it. You see, we Americans have chosen to switch our taste in wine to California and Australia. French wine simply does not sell as it did before.

If they chose to insult our President and his policy, we simply stop drinking their wine. I think that is fair.

spending cuts.
Every proposed cut in federal spending should specify that all reductions must come from the bureaucracy. If you check, you will often find that up to 80% of any agencies budget is spent on the bureaucracy and only 20% goes to the people the program is intended to help.

The funny thing is that even with such a massive bureaucracy, most of the people receiving government money do not deserve it.

make massive cuts in the bureaucracy, and give that money back to the tax payers. Take the rest and give it to local faith based and community agencies who know which applicants actually need the money and which are trying to live out of every body elses pocket.

Those who deserve assistance will get it. Those who are being lazy can go get one of the jobs the illegal immigrants are taking.

Terrorist are Desperate.
Did you see the picture from an Arabian tv station of a newly kidnapped American soldier? Now they have kidnapped GI JOE! Do they really think we are that dumb, or is someone making fun of the terrorist? In either case, it shows them as they are, desperate and weak.

Politics as usual
Well, here we go again. Sen. Barbara Boxer of California trashed Dr. Condi Rice in her confermation hearing for Secretary of State. Boxer accursed her of lying about almost everything she could think of.

Now we find out that Boxer has sent out a mass mailing asking for money. She suggested that contributors ought support her in her efforts to trash Dr. Rice. Clearly, she coordinated her attack with her money begging letter.

In my opinion, it was not Dr. Rice's qualification to be Secretary of State that Boxer was so interested in. It was the MONEY!

Most depressing day.
So the British Professor has determined that January 24th is the most depressing day of the year. Perhaps in Europe that is true, I don't know. But any fool knows that the most depressing day in America is April 15th!

Andy Rooney
Andy Rooney, one of the most absurd of the liberal eletest really displayed his arrogance this weekend. First he said that anyone who works with his hands is ignorant. Then he decided that anyone who believes in God is ignorant. That leaves himself and a handfull of likeminded fools who think they are the only minds left in America.

They must be very lonely.

Can one man change America?
Bill Cosby was in Atlanta this week speaking to the parents of teen age children. Cosby was right when he said that parents have to take responsibility for their chidren, and those children must learn personal responsibility from their parents.

Cosby said that most of the problems in the black community today are not caused by whites, but irresponsible blacks who refuse to assume personal responsibility.

The SCLC, which is floundring arond with officers quitting, their treasury depleded and devoid of any real objectives, out to take up Cosby's crusade and make it their own. The NAACP ought to stop tgheir bigoted attacks on Southern symbols and take up the same challenge.

If Cosby can bring thes groups and others around and get them involved in teaching America's black youth to become personally responsible, he can change America for the better.

Rice vs Clinton?
Can't you just see the headlines. Condoleezza Rice vs Hillary Clinton for President in 2008! Boy could we have fun with that combination.

Rice could have Kay Bailey Hutchinson for VP and Clinton would match up well with Barbara Streisand.

How would that come out? I put my money on Condi.

French Chococlate
The French have done it now! Thanks to their war in the Ivory Coast, half the world's supply of chocolate is tied up on the docks and cannot be shipped.

With the Christmas season approaching, the demand for chocolate will peak in a few weeks. Because of the actions of France, we can look forward to a world wide shortage of Chocolate, which will create a massive price increase.

When you go to buy your sweet a box of sweets this year, and see the price- - well, just another reason to be mad at the French.
